Project Overview

Industrial facilities handling bulk materials such as cement, grains, fertilizer, raw materials, or other bagged products often depend on manual processes to record truck movements and count bags during loading and unloading.

We developed an AI-powered truck and material monitoring solution that uses cameras and computer vision to automatically identify incoming and outgoing trucks, recognize their number plates, detect bags/boris, and calculate the quantity of material moving through the facility. The captured information is automatically transferred into the central application/ERP system, creating a digital record of truck number, material quantity, movement type, date, time, and transaction status.

Question Industry Problems

Challenges in Truck & Material Movement Management

01

Manual Truck Number Recording
Security or warehouse teams had to manually note truck registration numbers when vehicles entered or exited the facility, creating additional operational effort.

02

Manual Bag/Bori Counting
Workers had to manually count bags during loading and unloading activities, making the process repetitive and vulnerable to counting mistakes.

03

Time-Consuming Gate Operations
Recording truck details, checking material quantities, and maintaining movement records manually slowed down the overall loading and unloading process.

04

Risk of Human Errors
Manual number-plate recording and bag counting could result in incorrect truck numbers, incorrect quantities, duplicate entries, or missing records.

05

Lack of Real-Time Monitoring
Management had limited visibility into which truck had arrived, how much material was loaded or unloaded, and whether the transaction had been completed.

06

Difficult Transaction Tracking
Connecting the truck number with the actual quantity of material moved required manual reconciliation between gate records, warehouse records, and material documents.

How AI Automation Transformed Truck & Material Monitoring

AI-Based Truck Detection

We implemented camera-based computer vision to automatically detect trucks approaching the designated entry or exit area.

  • Checkmark

Utilizes camera-based computer vision for robust, real-time truck detection at checkpoints.

  • Checkmark

Automatically initiates the identification and monitoring workflow upon a truck's arrival.

  • Checkmark

Accurately extracts truck registration numbers from the live camera feed.

  • Checkmark

Automatically links the recognized number plate with the truck's movement transaction.

Automatic Number Plate Recognition

The system uses ANPR/OCR technology to identify and read the truck's registration number from the camera feed.

Automated Truck Entry & Exit Recording

Once the truck number is recognized, the system automatically creates a digital movement record.

  • Checkmark

Records entry/exit dates, times, gates, and material types seamlessly.

  • Checkmark

Eliminates the need for gate operators to manually enter basic truck information.

  • Checkmark

Identifies individual bags accurately as they move through a predefined monitoring zone.

  • Checkmark

Uses advanced object tracking to capture real-time loading and unloading activity.

AI-Based Bag / Bori Detection

The camera continuously monitors the loading or unloading area and uses computer vision to detect individual bags/boris.

Automated Bag Counting

The AI model counts bags automatically as they cross the defined camera detection area.

  • Checkmark

Provides an accurate, automated count of materials being moved.

  • Checkmark

Links the precise calculated quantity with the corresponding truck transaction immediately.

  • Checkmark

Uses configured zones and movement direction to separate loading and unloading data.

  • Checkmark

Creates a highly clear, truck-wise digital record of material quantities moving in and out.

Inward & Outward Material Monitoring

The system can distinguish between incoming and outgoing material movement based on the camera location, movement direction, or configured entry/exit zones.

Truck & Material Data Integration

The detected truck number and bag quantity are combined into a single transaction record.

  • Checkmark

Consolidates truck identities, entry times, and material quantities flawlessly.

  • Checkmark

Allows warehouse teams to efficiently track material movement against specific vehicles.

  • Checkmark

Pushes data automatically to an existing ERP or central application structure.

  • Checkmark

Maintains accurate master records, history logs, and transaction timestamps seamlessly.

Real-Time Application / ERP Update

Once the AI system captures the required information, the data is automatically transferred to the organization's application or ERP system.

Quantity Verification & Exception Monitoring

The automation can also be configured to compare expected and detected quantities.

  • Checkmark

Automatically calculates the difference between expected bills and AI-counted bags.

  • Checkmark

Triggers alerts for manual verification whenever a discrepancy or exception is found.

  • Checkmark

Displays key metrics like trucks inside the facility, total bags received, and completed transactions.

  • Checkmark

Provides managers with complete visibility into camera events and active quantity mismatches.

Centralized Monitoring Dashboard

Management can view truck and material activity from a centralized dashboard.
